About the vision:
The “Re-womb Trauma Center” is my futuristic vision to fix the people we are breaking. When I came up with the idea for “Restitution”, I thought the best way to fix all the trauma in the world (especially to children) is to go back to the womb and create a sanctuary to heal them.
About the artist:
How come our bodies seem more honest emotionally than our mouths? I paint the subtext of the human condition. I use color and gesture to describe what we are not saying but should in the fleeting moments we have. I’m fascinated by the body language we use to communicate what we really feel. What we do to each other and ourselves and how we interact, our relationships to animals, things, stories, social issues, emotions that often happen behind what we see on the surface. How do we feed our need to connect, create conflict and change using our body.
A hip flaring outward in one direction with a hand on it can be as powerful as a locomotive. An elbow across the face can tell us that someone is hurting. A little foot turned out can indicate acceptance or play. A tilt of a head forward towards someone’s face can indicate love or anger. Bodies carry our stories and speak to the kind of life we live. This language is my language.
